I WON.......

I've been a lucky girl lately. I won the Farmer's Market sign from Castle & Cottage in January. Love it!

Then I received an email informing me the I was the winner of the portrait that Meredith & Gwyneth were giving away by the artist, Sue Scoggins! I just finished searching for some pictures of my 15 1/2 year old long haired dachshund, Boogie.  Love the picture Sue did of Gwyneth! Hoping she can capture Boogie from the pictures I sent off. He's always been a little camera shy, turning away from the camera or else he's snoozing. Will share when I receive it.

Hoping to have a new project to share soon!

All the rage....

This is a re-post. Somewhere out there is my original post. Not sure what happened to it today (2/16/12) but it's gone and since I just linked up to another party I wanted to get the pictures back out there. I've had a lot of views to this post already and some wonderful comments which is nice. Thanks for the comments :)

Back in the summer I decided to update this chest with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. ASCP was all over the blog and I wanted to try it. After searching and searching for the paint I finally found some. This was my first attempt and it is so easy. It took me only a few hours to do. I chose Duck Egg Blue. I literally "slapped" the paint on. It dries very quickly so I did a second coat and then distressed it some. I used clear and dark wax and then buffed it. If you haven't tried Annie Sloan Chalk Paint yet, you should!!

Leathered Table

After seeing "Compulsive in Texas" brown paper countertops I was "inspired".  I decided to update an old Ikea Lack coffee table. Since I completed my table Susan @ "Compulsive in Texas" has done a bathroom floor and stairs too! Check them out!

I'm new to blogging (been following many of you for a long time but this is my first post) so if I'm doing it all wrong please forgive me. Photos are taken with a simple point and shoot so they may be bad as well. But, here goes....

First, I took an old wobbly legged Lack coffee table and repaired the leg. I then ripped up brown paper grocery bags, crumpled the pieces and placed them in a white glue/water mixture and covered the table and legs. After it dried (for days) I then stained it and used some poly to protect it. I really wanted to put upholstery tacks along the edge but the MDF or whatever the table is made of was extremely difficult to nail into. Does it look like leather to you?

Hoping to link to some parties. Keeping my fingers crossed I'm able to.
